About
Yīn's Mission
Sometimes, the waiting period after sending in your work is the worst—such patience one must have! Here at YÄ«n Literary, we're impatient. (Just kidding!) But we do believe in being an accessible platform that can serve as the starting block for more creative voices, hence all works submitted to YÄ«n Literary will receive a response within 48 hours. We also believe in being inclusive to not just works that are seen, but works that are appreciated through hearing as well. After all, the second definition of "yÄ«n" is "sound (unapologetically)." We hope to give a voice to all artists—poets and painters and midnight singers alike—for those nighttime muses that refuse to be unheard. So prepare your scribbles from the wee hours of the morning and record those passionate rants, and submit to us whenever the gates of our own dark corner on this Earth are open!
Why Yīn?
The term "yīn" originates from two Chinese charactars with the same pronounciations but different meanings:
"阴" (the dark half of the yin-yang symbol, representing the earth side to it's heaven).
"音" (sound, to make noise).
