Bella Melardi

Stars, Poetry

Snow fell today

After weeks of grey grounds

Stars blossomed from the soil

A blanket of stars

Is scattered across the ground

Specks of sparkling white

The sky is endless

You could fall and float

Into the starry sky-ground

Earth bleeds into the sky

And back into the ground

There is no border

There is no sound

I’m scared my footsteps may shatter

These stars into fractals of white

I lay on the ground

And make star angels

Giving them the stardust in my skin

A gift of starry flesh

To feed the sky

To feed the sky

My skin is apart of this world
This ground this dirt

I am alive despite it all

Even in the quiet isolation

I can still leave a mark

I can still exhale

I wish to sparkle

I wish

I wish
